New meets old at Dove Holes located in the Peak District! As of August 2015 the transpeak operation has now seen all Optare Excels banished from the route with spare Excel 682 concluding the Optare Excels time on transpeak. However, unlike 685, 688 and 689 which were taken out of Dove Holes on the back of a recovery truck Excel 682 infact has been saved by a few bus enthusiasts who are going to be preserving her for bus days and things such like; a very nice end to a rather emotional story.
As we now bid farewell to old gals, once again we are awaiting the arrival of four more Enviro200s destined for transpeak just under a year since the route took delivery of four new Enviro200s also for the transpeak route!! This comes after a 360-degree management re-think over the livery the buses would wear; orginally the buses arrving in November 2014 were going to be in green transpeak livery but a change in heart saw Centrebus have them in their colours with a green vinyls and stickers for transpeak; months later it was announced that the management ordered four more Enviro200s which are going to be in the iconic transpeak livery with a few little improvements to the service which will be worth keeping an eye on over the next few weeks.
With a PVR of 6 vehicles for transpeak there is a question-mark as to what will happen to the other vehicles currently there’s two fully branded all-over Omnicities and two Scania Solars along with four partly branded Enviro200s exc. the four brand new E200s arriving in Sept – most likely scenario is that two of the already fully branded vehicles and the four brand new 15/65′ plate Enviro200s will operate the route freeing up the four 64′ plate Enviro200s to other duties (spare and perhaps Unibus?) and leaving the final two fully branded vehicles as dedicated spares? I guess time will tell!
Moving from left to right we’ve got Excel 685/224 (W224 PRB), Excel 685/233 (X233 WRA) and Enviro200 593 (YY64 GWL)
