There is a difference between the domineering personality and the dominant personality. A domineering person pushes himself onto others. A dominant person is usually naturally the leader and the one who arranges for things to be done.
When we observe people we often find a domineering person. That person wants to take over everybody else’s life and wants to control things. The domineering person often does his domineering in a way that insults or offends others who are in the vicinity. This is the main thing that stands out about the person. Indeed, there are always leaders and followers. A leader is different from a domineering person in that a leader has something that it takes that makes people follow him, want to follow him, be interested in following him, and agree without thinking to accept him as the leader.
This differs from the domineering person who does not have those traits, does not have the attraction that a leader has but still wants to be a person who does the leading even though it does not come naturally to him. He has to push himself. He has to force himself to be the leader. You can see the domineering type all over. These people are always trying to put themselves on stage and others usually try to hide or to shy away from that person.
Don’t try to convince the domineering people to change their way of acting, to change their way of life. They don’t want to. They are interested. They have been told many times before you came along that they should act differently. They did not listen to them. There is no reason why they should listen to you or to change their way because you came along and you said so.
